You know that song, “It’s My Party, and I’ll Cry if I Want to?  Well, what if the singer really meant—“Life is My Party, and I’ll Cry Anytime I Want to for No Reason?“  What a concept.  I use to think crying was a sign of weakness or drama, and I would hold back my tears when I felt the urge to cry for no reason.  Recently, I thought, what if crying is simply our feminine side wanting to feel the natural feelings of being a woman.  Working full-time and being so focused every day, sometimes I forget that I even have emotions.  The other day, after work, I watched a sad movie, and after crying through the movie, I noticed an amazing feeling of relief that seemed to envelope me–as if my body had been waiting for that soul expression all day!

So what if experiencing our emotions is actually one of the many gifts we as women have?  What if it’s really one of the ways we gain access to the kind of empathy, love, and compassion that is unique to women?  If I can gain access to this, could I be less likely to snap at my sister for disagreeing with me, or being quick to get upset with the slow driver in front of me?  Certainly has me curious…  Maybe the next time you feel the urge to cry for no reason, instead of holding back like I did, perhaps you’ll just let yourself FEEL the amazing relief!
