Out of Focus?

September 18, 2008

Did you ever wonder why your boyfriend didn’t call for a few days or perhaps your husband seemed distracted when he came home from work?   I use to think this meant he didn’t care about me or he wasn’t happy to see me.   Then I learned about “Single Focus,” and realized these moments  had nothing to do with me at all.  “Single Focus” describes a great strength of men.  Their ability to focus on a single task until it is complete –has them be the most amazing hunters!  Imagine trying to hunt a lion while doing something else?  Now I think, “Thank goodness for Single Focus.”

I finally realized that during the week, if my boyfriend didn’t call as often– It didn’t mean he wasn’t looking forward to seeing me that weekend, or that he didn’t care about me.  Could it be that he was just focused on the task at hand? What a relief to know that when he’s watching T.V., he’s not ignoring me at the same time!  Of course, this behavior may often cause some misunderstanding for us multi-taskers who are used to doing a million things at once, right?   The next time your significant other seems distracted or busy, perhaps you’ll remember “Single Focus,” acknowledge their current task at hand, and ask them when might be a good time to talk or connect.  Who knows, you might be surprised by what happens next!
